3/12/2008 UEFA Cup Live Radio - Hamburg vs Bayer Leverkusen

If Spanish clubs dominated last season's competition, the German clubs have had the greatest number of representatives in this season's edition as evidenced by this all German second leg live radio broadcast commentary UEFA Cup meeting between Bundesliga sides Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen. Bayer will be bringing a slender 1-0 lead to Hamburg after a late winner in the first leg at the massive BayArena stadium in Germany. With Hamburg having had the better results from the two sides' meetings in their own league this season, the home side will be confident of overturning the one goal deficit and advance to the next round at Bayer's expense. Hamburg actually had the better of the game in terms of possession and they created just as many clear opportunities as the home side, but as it is with most of these cup games, anything can happen in football and Hamburg paid for not taking their chances.

Bayer might have its hands full in dealing with Hamburg for this live radio broadcast commentary second leg match against Hamburg in the UEFA Cup as they have decidedly had the worse results against their German rivals this season. The one goal lead might also be insufficient although by not conceding a home goal, they can put Hamburg under pressure if they manage to snatch an away goal themselves. This might be possible considering that Hamburg will miss the company of defensive rock Vincent Kompany after getting himself booked in the first leg and will have to sit out the return match for accumulating too many yellow cards. Kompany was instrumental in leading the Hamburg defence on a stout display of defiance in the first half against Leverkusen and with him missing, it remains to be seen if Hamburg would be able to contain Bayer and score a decisive victory, leading them to a quarterfinal appearance in the UEFA Cup.
